Rebecca’s Rauchbier- Vienna Lager
Smoked Vienna Lager, 4.5%ABV, 22 IBUs

Did you know that at one point in time most European beer was smoked? Malt used to be dried over open flames which then made the beer smoky. This smoked lager is in the style of the Austrian Vienna lager. Rauchbier is the German term for smoked beer. The pleasant smokiness is balanced with the use of rich bready malt and a touch of toasted malt. The clean lager fermentation makes for a smooth and crisp beverage. Smoked beer is a love of ours and if you’ve never tried one, you might just love them too!

Oktoberfest may be over but fall has only just begun! And everyone knows that if the world gives you pumpkins, you make pumpkin beer. So that’s what we did!

Patch’s Pumpkin Ale
Pumpkin ale, 5.2% ABV, 26 IBUs

First we start with loads of locally grown pumpkins which are smothered with brown sugar and roasted. The caramelized pumpkin flesh is added to Patch’s, our pumpkin ale. Rich English malt and yeast produces a flavorful background for the pumpkin to sit while a gentle combination of cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg dance on your tongue. A little sweet, a little spice, a gulp of joy! Made even more delicious when paired with a caramel, cinnamon sugar rim!

Not too spiced, not too sweet, just right!

It’s really hot outside so I think it’s time to come inside and have a cold refreshing house-brewed beer! And our newest brew is perfect and part of a drive to raise awareness of Nay Aug Park’s newest, yet oldest attraction- Brooks Drift Mine!

Brooks Drift
American pale wheat, 4.5%ABV, 26 IBUs

The American wheat is a very American style in that it encompasses a wide array of interpretations. Generally a clean and easy drinking beer similar to the cream ale or golden ale but brewed with a substantial amount of American wheat malt to add that extra tang of refreshment! Moderate hop flavors and gentle esters add to the simple beer for a complexity you can enjoy! Brooks Drift is brewed exclusively with PA barley and wheat from #doubleeaglemalt in collaboration with the #brooksdrift organization to raise attention to the amazing work being done at Nay Aug Park by the #undergroundminers! Hard work deserves great beer!

Most people don’t last a year at the same job, but we have been fortunate enough to have the most amazing person who chose to work with us for the past 40 years! Cooper’s wouldn’t be the place it is without the fantastic Moxie!

…she also loves a nice hazy IPA, which we happened to make for her 40th anniversary. And it’s almost as great as her!

The Moxie 40’
New England IPA, 7.3% ABV, 40IBUs

A beer dedicated to one of the best severs in the Scranton Area, Diana “Moxie” Monahan- Seamon, who has worked at Cooper’s for an incredible 40 years! Oats and wheat create a soft body that is complimented with a healthy dose of dry hops. The hop blend has a focus on Bru-1 hops. Bru-1 is known for it’s lush pineapple flavors that comingles to create an ever-enjoyably juicy Hazy IPA. Cheers to 40 years, Moxie!

Wait? Cooper’s has glassware that glows in the dark? Why would they do that? You say it’s for sale? Who drinks beer in pitch-blackness….?

…. We do (sometimes) and because we can and thought it would be sweet. But the liquid in the glass is actually sweet. Our new milk stout brewed with 100% Pennsylvanian malt!

Pennsylvanian Cowfish Stout
Milk stout, 4% ABV, 35 IBUs

Strange names lend themselves to delicious beer. The cowfish is small fish with a big personality just like this Stout. Brewed with 100% Pennsylvanian malt from Double Eagle Malting. A blend of their roasted malts produces chocolatey flavors that are pronounced from the addition of Milk sugar and a fruity English Yeast. The lactose and yeast help smooth out the bitterness from the roasted malt making this taste like dessert in a glass. It’s a Low-ABV beer with tons of flavor!

Side-note: Scott did not want his picture taken so we made a compromise…

It’s All About Timing
American IPA, 65 IBUs, 6.9% ABV

This classic American style IPA balances a perfect malt profile with a suitable hop presence. A firm but subtle bitterness is smoothed out with fresh flavors from a Centennial, Mandarina Bavaria, Cascade and Warrior hop blend. As the Old saying goes, “It’s all about Timing.” This perfectly balanced American IPA will always make it feel like the right time!

Also, we got a new shipment of glassware and our new brewery pints are amazing! Plus they glow in the dark….

Nothing flows better than a clean and crisp German Pilsner and we have an extra fresh batch just in time for the nice weather next week! Brewed with 100% Pilsner malt with no adjuncts and hopped with pleasant noble hops.

The Admiral’s Daughter
German Pilsner, 5.2% ABV, 34 IBUs

The Admiral has a daughter who’s blonde and rather delightful. She’s light as a feather and crisp as a kitten. She hails from the town of Pilsen where she shares her bubbly personality with all those who care to mingle. Maybe a pint will ease the nerves…
